To an impatient motorist hunting a cooler place to light before dark, these dusty little towns are all cut from the same tiresome pattern and, despite the signboard, a long way from heaven.Like most of them, Rio Seco had old roots. A man of wit, some people thought, he had erected a big red-and-white sign on the highway at the city limits:WELCOME TO RIO SECO HOME OF 3,000 FRIENDLY PEOPLE-AND THREE OLD CRANKS!Farther inside the city limits, half-hidden between a Ford billboard and one for Pepsi-Cola, he had placed another sign:THIS IS GOD'S COUNTRY DON'T DRIVE THROUGH IT LIKE HELLThis cattle, sheep, and farming town was much the same as fifty others dotted along the interminable east-west highways which speed traffic across the great monotonous stretches of western Texas ranch country. ![]() ![]() The part-time volunteer, elected because no one else wanted the job, made his living selling an independent brand of gasoline two cents under the majors though he bought it from the same tank truck that serviced half the stations in town. RIO SECO WAS TOO SMALL TO AFFORD A PROFESSIONAL manager for its one-room Chamber of Commerce. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Spencer Cohen is a guy who is able to get answers about relationship questions. “Spencer Cohen, Book One” is the first novel in the “Spencer Cohen” series, which was released in the year 2016. She has also written some stand alone work. Walker writes the “Spencer Cohen” series, the “Red Dirt” series, the “Thomas Elkin” series, the “Blind Faith” series, and the “Turning Point” series. Since then, she has been writing regularly. She once believed that people talking in her head was a weird thing, until she came across other authors who said that it was a normal thing. Walker likes when they do some dirty things, but likes it more when they fall in love with each other. She has some pretty boys who she gives life to with her words. She is a writer, a sister, a wife, and a mother. Writing is something she loves doing and spends way too much time doing it, but she wouldn’t have it another way. Walker is from Australia and writes gay romances, a genre she loves. ![]() ![]() ![]() Whether it has ever been written in Japanese I do not know but the extraordinary belief which it records used certainly to exist in most parts of Japan, and in many curious forms… The incident of "Riki-Baka" was a personal experience and I wrote it down almost exactly as it happened, changing only a family-name mentioned by the Japanese narrator. But the story-teller, in every case, has so recolored and reshaped his borrowing as to naturalize it… One queer tale, "Yuki-Onna," was told me by a farmer of Chofu, Nishitama-gori, in Musashi province, as a legend of his native village. ![]() Some of the stories may have had a Chinese origin: the very remarkable "Dream of Akinosuke," for example. Her childhood memories are only of blacks as domestic help for white people which she assumed customary affair. In her interviews she recounted her experience as a child in South where Jackson had equal population of white and back, though she never saw any black receiving education. At first Stockett was reluctant to write about the dynamics of this relationship as she knew it would be heavily criticized. The Help highlights the relationship dynamics between whites and their African-American domestic help in South. The inspiration for the novel is Stockett’s own childhood. The novel became a milestone in Stockett’s writing career earning a tremendous praise for writing on a unique subject matter. After rejection from 60 literary agents consecutively, eventually agent Susan Ramer took upon the task. It was not easy for Stockett to find a willing literary agent to represent her work. After five years of hard work on her personal writing project she finally had The Help published in 2009. ![]() ![]() SJM is releasing two different editions with bonus content.
