In her seventh work of fiction, Patchett ( This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage, 2013, etc.) turns from the exotic locales and premises of Bel Canto (2001) and State of Wonder (2011) to a subject closer to home: the evolution of an American family over five decades. Two families are fused, atomized, and reconfigured by a stolen kiss, a child’s death, and a bestselling novel. ![]()

Seven chapters are entirely new, including expanded coverage of recent world architecture. For the third edition, the text has been radically revised and expanded, incorporating much new material and a fresh appreciation of regional identity and variety. April identifies as bisexual and briefly addresses sexual preference once or twice. The book asks a lot of questions about the power of that kind of celebrity, and about the ways in which social media divides and unites people. April's just out of college and starting out in New York City, which she loves, and she becomes an internationally famous social media star practically overnight. With protagonist April in her early 20s, it's not marketed strictly at teens, but there's a lot of appeal here. ![]() Parents need to know that An Absolutely Remarkable Thing is a science-fiction story by Hank Green, the driving force along with his brother John of several popular science and "nerd-power" YouTube channels. ![]() ![]() ![]() The story is about Richard Bach’s imagined encounter with Donald P. Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach is very philosophical, and the author uses his flying experiences as a basis for this very imaginative work of fiction. ![]() What is Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach About? I love learning, and I am open to learn from others, but it has to be done in a certain way, and the way it is done in this book, would most certainly irritate me. Or it could be my introverted self, speaking, getting annoyed at the notion of some well-meaning person forcing you to speak, when you do not want to. ![]() I can’t say the same thing about this book, and let’s get my bias out of the way, I detest books where you have a “sage” trying to show you your errant ways, directing you to the proper path. Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach follows his bestselling Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which I loved. The inclusion of characters from the previous books is also a highlight and the hints at things to come are far more appealing that Aden and Zaira. Thankfully, the actual plot revolving around a mysterious cabal bent on destroying the Arrows is very compelling and there are some very intriguing twists. In fact, her obsessions with him is downright creepy, and undermines what little chemistry does exist between them. Likewise, Zaira's constant self-deprecation and possessive attitude toward Aden is not romantic in the least. While Aden's surprise ability is very intriguing, the manner in which it is revealed and then explained reduces its impact on the reader. Unfortunately, Zaira and Aden are quite bland both as individuals and as a couple. ![]() Despite the rather lackluster romance between Zaira and Aden, the developments in the ongoing story arc makes this a worthwhile addition to the series. ![]() ![]() ![]() Austin told us about how she became interested in Epicurus and decided to write her book. These represent the three metaphors used throughout the book. The book is split into three parts, namely The Strings, The Grass and The Vessel. My favourite element of the plot is the three sections. It balances the comedy and the diary-like stories with the mystery brilliantly, by mixing them together. The trail of clues gives the book a driving force, something that makes you want to read on. The main plot follows Q and his friends as they try to uncover the cryptic clues Margo left behind… They have their night of adventure, but when Q wakes up in the morning, Margo has vanished. They hardly speak until Margo climbs into Q's bedroom and invites him to join her on a mission of revenge. Years later, our two main characters are in high school and have drifted apart.
